Boosting Lifting, Pertamina Wants To Find A New WK From An Auction From The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) is trying to boost oil and gas lifting by looking for new sources.
Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri said that currently the wells managed by this state-owned oil and gas company have entered the old well category so that production continues to decline over time. For this reason, he emphasized that Pertamina needs new sources.
"Most of the wells managed by Pertamina currently include a mature field, already an old well, thus a natural decline in production," said Simon, quoted on Wednesday, October 8.
One of the steps that Pertamina will take is to find new sources from the working area offered by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
Simon said, currently there are 74 WK that will be auctioned off by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources within the next 2 years.
"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has been encouraged to within 1-2 years, around 74 working areas will be auctioned," he explained.
For this reason, Simon ensured that Pertamina would follow the auction process in order to obtain new findings so that it could increase the number of national productions.
Simon further added, while looking for new sources, Pertamina will also continue to hold back the rate of decline in production from old wells by utilizing technology.
"We are taking advantage of technological innovation and other initiatives to slow down the decline in our wells production," Simon continued.
Previously, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, said that his ministry plans to conduct an auction of 75 oil and gas blocks spread throughout Indonesia. As for the 75 oil and gas blocks, the largest oil and gas blocks are located in the Sulawesi and Papua regions.
"We are ready to offer a working area for 75 oil and gas blocks. If we look at the potential side, the biggest one is around Papua, then in Sulawesi," said Yuliot at the Le Meridien Hotel, Tuesday, July 8.
He added that his Ministry had identified points that had large potentials and were just waiting for time to be offered to Contractors for Cooperation (KKKS).
"We have identified and we are ready to offer through auction to business entities. In parallel, we are trying to hand over permits to which KKKS companies can enter through auctions," he said.
Based on the records of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, of the 75 blocks, they are divided into two categories, namely 61 areas to be auctioned including Central Andaman (awarded), Amanah (awarded), Melati (awarded), Panai (open), Pesut Mahakam (open), Serpang (ready to auction), Kojo (ready to auction), Binaiya (ready to auction), Gaea 1 (ready to auction), Gaea 2 (ready to auction), and Air Komering (ready to auction).
