Cak Imin Asks For Untasked Ponpes Development Of PBG Permits To Be Temporarily Suspended
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin requested that Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes) be under construction but do not have a Building Approval Permit (PBG) to be temporarily suspended.
This was conveyed by Cak Iman after a meeting with the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo at the Ministry of Public Works office, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 7.
"All building processes without permission have been stopped. I ask all Islamic boarding schools that are currently building to temporarily stop because they must have permission," said Cak Imin.
Cak Imin understands that many Islamic boarding schools do not have PBG permits because they are hundreds of years old. In fact, he said, the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building in Sidoarjo is 125 years old.
"The important thing is to ensure that all building processes without permits are stopped. We can understand this because the Islamic boarding school is on average 100 years old, 150 years old, in Sidoarjo this is 125 years old," he said.
He added that the audit of Islamic boarding schools is old and prone to be carried out by the Ministry of Public Works based on local government data and community reports.
"Please convey it to the public, Islamic boarding schools that feel vulnerable, just consult with the hotline. Of course the hotline will allow us to check, overcome, overcome," he explained.
Cak Imin asked tens of thousands of Islamic boarding schools that do not yet have PBG to immediately take care of it to the local government.
So that in the future the construction of Islamic boarding schools can comply with the established construction rules.
"We also order Islamic boarding schools to improve PBG permits. Well, this must be updated by all pesantren, building no matter how small there must be PBG," explained Cak Imin.
On the same occasion, PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that his party would rebuild the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building in Sidoarjo, East Java, which collapsed on Monday, September 29.

According to Dody, the budget for the construction of Islamic boarding schools, which are religious institutions, is actually in the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).
However, considering that the Ponpes incident was a national emergency, the Ministry of Public Works took part.
"It's just that, right, this is an emergency, we must enter in Sidoarjo," he said.
