This Is The Reason BGN Distributes MBG Through The Kitchen Instead Of Money To Beneficiaries
JAKARTA The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) revealed the reason for choosing to distribute the Berkzi Eating Program (MBG) for collective kitchens or the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Center (SPPG), instead of giving money directly to beneficiary parents.
Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana explained the reason. He said the MBG distribution scheme through this kitchen was to avoid money that was distributed inappropriately.
In addition, according to Dadan, the distribution through the parents of the beneficiaries also does not form a food ecosystem.
"That's why we then don't use the method where money is sent to parents, then parents tell us to cook. On the one hand, we are worried that this money won't be useful. Second, then it doesn't form an ecosystem," Dadan said at the Food Zone event, in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 7th.
For this reason, continued Dadan, it was agreed that the distribution was chosen based on the kitchen. Because, with this scheme not only ensures the accuracy of the target recipients, but also creates a new emerging market in the regions.
"With what now you say with one SPPG or a nutritional fulfillment service unit serving 3,000 people, new demand or new needs will be formed. It can be said that as a new emerging market because 3,000 people gather in one place are served, it will require extraordinary needs," he said.
Moreover, said Dadan, every single SPPG serves an average of 3,000 people and gets a budget of around Rp. 10 billion per year. The funds are not handed over to individuals, but are managed for collective food needs.

"Of the Rp10 billion, 85 percent is used to buy raw materials, and 99 percent of the raw materials come from agricultural products," explained Dadan.
This scheme, said Dadan, is different from the general social assistance approach. BGN wants to create a dual economic impact by improving community nutrition while moving the national food supply chain.
In addition, the existence of SPPG opens up job opportunities for the surrounding community, including housewives who previously did not have a fixed income.
"Where there are mothers who have not worked so far so they can work and then get additional income so that we can eliminate extreme poverty at the location where the SPPG stands," he said.
