Rizki Juniansyah Wins Two Gold Medals at the 2025 World Championships
JAKARTA – Rizki Juniansyah performed brilliantly at the 2025 World Weightlifting Championships, bringing home two gold medals and breaking a world record.
The 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist won gold in the clean & jerk and total lift in the men's 79-kilogram class in Forde, Norway, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, early morning Western Indonesian Time.
Rizki won his first gold medal in the clean & jerk after successfully lifting 204 kilograms, setting a new world record.
Rizki's next gold medal came in the total lift category, reaching 361 kilograms. This total consisted of 157 kilograms in the snatch and 204 kg in the clean & jerk.
The athlete, born in Serang, Banten, also won a bronze medal in the snatch after successfully lifting a total weight of 157 kilograms.
Rizki attempted three times, but failed on the second and third attempts with a weight of 162 kilograms, and had to settle for third place.
The silver medal in the men's 79-kilogram total lift category was secured by Ri Chong-song (North Korea) with a total lift of 360 kilograms. He also won a gold medal in the snatch after lifting 163 kilograms.
The bronze medal in the men's 79-kilogram total lift category was won by Mohamed Younes (Egypt) with a total lift of 360 kilograms (162 kilograms in the snatch and 198 kilograms in the clean & jerk).
Son Hyeon-ho (South Korea) also won a bronze medal in the men's 79-kilogram clean & jerk category with a lift of 198 kilograms.
Indonesia also won a silver medal through Rahmat Erwin Abdullah in the clean & jerk category after lifting a total of 203 kilograms.
Previously, last weekend, veteran lifter Eko Yuli Irawan also won a bronze medal. The four-time Olympic medalist competed in the men's 65-kilogram class with a total lift of 137 kilograms.
