SAR Operation Ponpes Al Khoziny Rampung, BNPB Focuses On Recovery And Investigation Stages.

SIDOARJO Cleaning the rubble of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School prayer building in Buduran, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, was completed on Tuesday, October 7 in the morning. The concrete pile and building materials that previously filled the location have now been flattened to the ground.

All search and rescue officers (SAR) confirmed that no more casualties were found, marking the end of the SAR operation led by Basarnas.

Based on official data, the total number of victims reached 165. Of these, 104 people were declared safe, with details of four still undergoing treatment, 99 have returned home after treatment, and one person does not require medical treatment.

Meanwhile, 63 people died, of which 17 bodies have been identified, while the rest are still being processed by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team.

Deputy for Emergency Management of BNPB Maj. Gen. Budi Irawan said, with the completion of the SAR operation, the handling is now entering the transition phase towards recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.

"After this transition, we will hand it over to the East Java Provincial BPBD. However, BNPB will continue to assist," he said.

This transition phase will focus on several main steps. One of them is to continue the process of identifying victims and handling basic needs for the victims' families.

BNPB together with BPBD East Java, BPBD Sidoarjo, Health Service, and Polri have prepared evacuation tents at Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya. At that location, the victims' families received support in the form of food, health services, psychosocial assistance, to traditional services such as massage and cup.

The next step is the sterilization of locations from the remnants of hazardous materials and potential pollution. Health services together with the Health Crisis Center will disinfect and clean up areas, including re-checking debris disposal points to ensure that no human body parts are carried to the final disposal site.

In addition to environmental restoration, BNPB will also coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to conduct technical investigations and audits of other building structures in the pesantren area. This step was taken to ensure security and prevent similar incidents in the future.

"According to the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, we will assist the assessment process of all existing buildings so that incidents like this do not happen again," said Budi.

Meanwhile, the East Java Regional Police (East Java Police) have secured a number of evidences from the scene for further investigation.

Several witnesses have also been questioned to reveal the cause of the collapse of the four-story prayer room which killed dozens of students.
