Chaotic! US Government Shutdown Paralyzes Airports In California

JAKARTA - The closure of the United States government is starting to have a broad impact. One of those affected was Hollywood airframe Airport in California, which on Monday night 6 October reportedly had no air traffic control for about six hours.

Hollywood media airport is one of the busy airports connecting Los Angeles with various major cities in the United States. The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) confirmed a delay in departures of up to two and a half hours due to staff shortages.

BUR TOWER ATC NOL. Flight rates are lowered due to additional staff," reads the FAA's official announcement.

Local media ABC7 reports that the air traffic control tower intensifies it does not have staff, and a temporary surveillance task is transferred to a team in San Diego that communicates directly with the pilot.

The airport ensures that operations continue. "We advise passengers to contact their airline first to obtain the latest information regarding possible delays or flight cancellations," an airport spokesman told CNN.

This condition occurred when the closure of the US national government entered its second week. The political stalemate between the Republican Party led by Donald Trump and the Democratic Party regarding funding various federal programs caused most government employees to be laid off without pay.

However, some workers who are deemed important include air traffic controllers remain required to work without compensation. Analysts warn that this good intention-based system could collapse at any time if workers began to miss out due to frustration not being paid.

Democrats have refused to approve a Republican-submitted budget unless there is an agreement to extend the health care subsidy Obamacare and cancel a number of cuts to health programs passed in Trump's major legislation package.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates the law could cause 11 million US citizens to lose access to health services, plus another four million are in danger of losing subsidies next year. In addition, another 24 million Americans are expected to face a double premium increase.

Republicans assess that the issue of health subsidies is not directly related to the sustainability of government operations and can be discussed separately before the end of the year.
