Google Maps Error Timeline, Makes Users Unable To Access Location History
JAKARTA - A number of Google Maps users reported interference when trying to move their Timeline data to their cellphones. This problem causes users not to be able to access the location history stored in their accounts.
Timeline itself is a feature in Google Maps that records places that users have visited, complete with date and time. This feature is useful, for example, to remember certain locations or compile official travel reports. However, now many users are facing errors that make the data untransferable.
According to the Android Headlines report, users who have this problem say that the Timeline backup feature has not been working properly for more than a year. While the backup option can be enabled, the system still displays error messages or fails to create new backups.

Problems get more complicated when users change their Google account password. Once passwords are updated, users cannot create new backups or import old backups. Changing devices or resetting phones doesn't solve this problem.
Many similar reports have appeared in Google's support forums, including the latest reports sent just three days ago. Even so, not all users are affected. Some, such as the Android Authority journalist Rita El Khoury, confirmed that the data backup process is still functioning normally.
Currently, Google has not provided an official comment or a definite solution regarding this interference. However, there is one temporary way that can be tried, although not perfect. Users can try to log in using other Google accounts in the Maps app to access some of their Timeline data again. Unfortunately, this method does not allow full recovery or the inclusion of all location history.
This problem arose after Google in 2023 announced the termination of the web version of the Timeline feature and asked users to store their data directly on mobile devices. Now, with this new glitch, many users are worried about losing track of the travel that has been stored over the years.
