KAI Records Retail Transport Reaches 185,057 Tons Until September 2025, Up 13 Percent
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI noted that the volume of retail transportation reached 185,057 tons from January to September 2025.
This number increased by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2024 of 164,034 tons.
KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said this growth reflects the increasing public trust, especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in terms of efficient, fast, safe, and sustainable rail-based transportation modes.
Anne said KAI's retail transportation business model is carried out through two approaches, namely business to business (B2B) with official logistics partners, as well as business to customer (B2C) which allows the general public, including MSMEs, to send their goods through KAI's partner network.
"This service is now integrated with various expedition services, e-commerce fulfillment, and intercity delivery, so that business actors can reach a wider market at competitive costs," he said in an official statement, Monday, October 6.
For MSMEs, the existence of this service is an important support for supply chains to accelerate product distribution from production centers to markets to increase competitiveness in the digital era.
Many small business actors are now able to expand their sales reach to big cities thanks to rail-based distribution support.
In addition to providing economic benefits, rail transportation modes also have a positive environmental impact.
Rail transportation produces lower carbon emissions than highway transportation, thus playing an active role in supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target launched by the government.
