AHY: The Implementation Of Zero ODOL 2027 Will Be Preceded By A Series Of Trials In A Number Of Locations

JAKARTA - The implementation of the zero policy of obese trucks or Over Dimension and Over Load (ODOL) in early 2027 will be preceded by a series of trials in a number of locations.

This was revealed by the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) after chairing the Ministerial Level Coordination Meeting (Rakor) regarding the Implementation of the National Action Plan for Controlling More Dimensional and Charged Vehicles (ODOL) at the Coordinating Ministry for GPA, Jakarta, Monday, October 6.

The meeting was also attended by several representatives from the relevant ministries, namely the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Ministry of SOEs, Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) and Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

Zero ODOL is a national policy aimed at eliminating ODOL practices, namely the use of trucks exceeding the dimensional and load limits set.

"It will be preceded by a number of trials or trials in a number of locations, there will be pilot projects and so on which we will explain later," said AHY.

Currently, said AHY, the government is still in the stage of perfecting various schemes so that the Zero ODOL policy is not only to discipline, but also to provide continuous and comprehensive solutions.

The chairman of the Democratic Party assessed that the government and other stakeholders had been discussing how to handle ODOL trucks on a permanent basis.

Discussions about the eradication of ODOL trucks are always deadlocked due to a number of challenges.

The challenges start from the risk of high distribution costs for business actors, the welfare of goods transport drivers and the existence of illegal levies (extortion) practices in the freight transportation sector.

"Once again we don't want anyone to become a victim of an accident due to ODOL and other losses," concluded AHY.
