Senate Meeting Again Today To Pass US Shutdown Trigger Budget Bill

JAKARTA - The United States Senate (US) will again discuss the draft law (RUU) for federal budget expenditures today, Monday 6 October.

Citing ABC News, the US Senate meeting is expected to vote or re-vote at 17.30 local time.

Previously, the discussion of the state budget towards the beginning of the new US fiscal year experienced a deadlock in the Senate as a result of the Republican and Democrat Party failing to agree on the bill, plus endless discussions about the cost of health services.

The stalemate led to the closure of the government or shutdown which resulted in the threat of mass layoffs against federal government employees, especially in the public service sector.

US President Donald Trump and Republicans who supported him blamed the US shutdown due to heated debate over the costs of health services in the Senate.

The Democratic Party responded by demanding Republicans and all parties related to negotiating to reach an agreement regarding the federal budget spending bill.
