Hundreds Of Residents' Houses In Kapuas Submerged By Floods As High As 1 Meter
The Head of the Kapuas Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Kalimantan, Prince S Pandingan explained that hundreds of houses in Bajuh Village, Central Kapuas District, were flooded after heavy rains for several consecutive days.
"The water level that submerged the residents' houses was reported to be between 50 centimeters and 1 meter, and caused residents' activities to be disrupted," Pangeran said in Kuala Kapuas, Monday, October 6.
According to him, for temporary data, some of the residents from 300 families (KK) whose houses were submerged, were forced to flee to safer places.
The floods have started to inundate residential areas since this morning due to the overflowing of the Kapuas River and several tributaries around it. The rising water prevented residents from having time to save all their valuables.
BPBD Kapuas, dispatched a team to evacuate and collect data on affected victims.
His party will also set up an emergency post to accommodate residents who have lost their homes.
