Find Pangolins At TPK Bagendang, BKSDA Releases In Central Kalimantan Forest
JAKARTA - The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) released pangolins found from the Bagendang Container Terminal (TPK), North Mentaya Hilir District, East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim), Central Kalimantan (Kalteng).
"The pangolin has been released into the forest area of East Kotawaringin Regency," said Head of BKSDA Resort Sampit Muriansyah in Sampit, Monday, confiscated by Antara.
He conveyed that on Wednesday, October 1, the Sampit Resort BKSDA received the handover of a pangolin from the Kotim Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat), after previously together with the Sampit Reptil Community the animal was evacuated from the Bagendang TPK.
The protected wildlife was previously roaming the port area and was secured by officers in a container, then handed over to the East Kotim Disdamkarmat.
When first received, the animal looked weak allegedly due to dehydration, but in general the condition of the pangolin was quite healthy.

After being treated at the Sampit Resort BKSDA for approximately two days and the pangolin conditions were prime again, and coordinated with the KSDA SKW Region II Pangkalan Bun, finally the animal with the Latin name Manis Javanica was released into the wild.
"Before the release, we had conducted a survey and this area was a good area for release, especially pangolins because it was far from community activities and there were found many natural pangolin foods," he continued.
BKSDA urges the community to jointly preserve protected wildlife. These animals are an asset of an invaluable nation and have an important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.
On the other hand, he reminded Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems, protected animals must not be hunted, captured, injured, killed, killed, owned, owned, transported, traded, damaged, or taken eggs illegally.
