On Its 80th Anniversary, House Commission I Hopes Soldiers Will Uphold the Principle of "The People's TNI"

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sukamta, expressed his appreciation to all soldiers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) who have dedicated their best service to safeguarding the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and honor of the Indonesian nation, in commemoration of the TNI's 80th Anniversary.

Sukamta hopes that every TNI soldier will continue to be the 'People's TNI', capable of embodying every soldier's oath and the Sapta Marga (Seven Principles) to the fullest extent possible for the nation, the welfare, and defense of the people.

"Of course, we must also be a prime TNI so that we can contribute to making Indonesia a developed and great nation," Sukamta said on Monday, October 6.

Sukamta emphasized that the strength of the TNI is a key element in a strong national resilience system. Amidst geopolitical changes and multidimensional threats, he stated that national resilience does not depend solely on military strength.

"But also on the synergy between defense, the people's welfare, economic resilience, and national unity," Sukamta said.

Sukamta also highlighted the enthusiasm of thousands of people from across Jakarta and its surrounding areas who attended the peak celebration of the 80th Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Anniversary at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Sunday, October 5th. He considered this enthusiasm to be proof that the TNI is truly loved by the people.

"The people were happy and did not hesitate to participate in enlivening the TNI anniversary, even to the point of causing traffic jams everywhere. The people's extraordinary love for the TNI must be reciprocated with the high dedication of every soldier to put the people and the country above all else," said the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) legislator.

According to Sukamta, a professional, modern, and people-oriented TNI is a symbol of the nation's dignity and a tangible manifestation of the spirit of devotion to the country. Therefore, he believes that the development of TNI strength must continue to be directed towards strengthening national defense independence and readiness.

"Of course, while maintaining the values ​​of Pancasila and the spirit of unity as the primary foundation in every strategic step of national defense," he explained.

Sukamta also hopes that every soldier will reaffirm the spirit of total people's defense. Today, the people are not only objects of protection, but also part of the nation's strength in maintaining the country's sovereignty and integrity.

"Strong national resilience can only be achieved if the people live in prosperity, are educated, and have a strong sense of national defense," he said.

Sukamta assured that Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) will continue to optimally carry out its legislative, oversight, and budgetary roles to support the sustainable strengthening of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the national defense system. With a strong TNI and a united people.

He believes that Indonesia's dignity will always be maintained on the international stage.

On the other hand, Sukamta also emphasized that collaboration between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the government, the House of Representatives (DPR), and all elements of the nation is the key to realizing a national defense that is adaptive, resilient, and oriented towards national interests. This includes cooperation with the people themselves.

"For eight decades, the TNI has been the protector of the people and a symbol of national honor. In its 80th year, the TNI is expected to continue to maintain its professionalism, strengthen discipline and dedication, and maintain its closeness to the people," Sukamta concluded.
