From Bangka Belitung, President Prabowo: We Don't Need To Be Afraid Of Smuggling Basmi, Illegal Mining
BANGKA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia is strongly committed to eradicating the practice of smuggling, illegal mining, and various other forms of violating other laws that harm the state and people.
"We don't need to be afraid to eradicate smuggling, illegal mining, and all of this," said President Prabowo while reviewing and witnessing the handover of state confiscated assets in Pangkalpinang, Antara, Monday, October 6.
During a working visit to the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands, President Prabowo witnessed the handover of the state loot from a number of private companies that were proven to have violated the law in the PT Timah Tbk area.
"The owners of this private company have been convicted, and the Prosecutor's Office has also confiscated six tin smelters in the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands," he said.
The President views the Attorney General's move as a form of proud law enforcement, as well as an effort to save natural resources from illegal mining practices.
"I ask law enforcement officials to continue this in order to save the country's wealth for all of our people," Prabowo said.
He also gave instructions to the Attorney General's Office, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, and the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) to continue to take firm action against illegal smuggling and mining perpetrators.
