Residents Panic See Rawa Buntu River Red, South Tangerang DLH Moves Quickly To Find Pollution Sources
TANGERANG - The Environment Agency (DLH) of South Tangerang City, Banten, is currently investigating allegations of pollution on Jalan Artowijaya, Rawa Buntu, Serpong District, whose water has turned red and thick.
"Again, we are investigating together in the region. But until now there have been no signs of changing water color," said the Head of Environmental Pollution and Supervision Control Division of the South Tangerang DLH, in Tangerang, Antara, Monday, October 6.
He said the DLH team is currently coordinating with regional elements to trace the source of the pollution.
"Until today, the region has not detected the source. We have also joined friends in the field," he said.
Based on the search results on the banks of the Rawa Buntu river, DLH has not found a major source of pollution. However, the provisional suspicion leads to coloring waste from the industry.
There are two possibilities, from food dyes or clothing colorings. But for clothing colorings, in South Tangerang there is no textile industry. So I still doubt that that's the cause," said miro.
He emphasized that if the perpetrators of the pollution are proven, the local government will take firm action because the impact is detrimental to the environment and the surrounding community.
"It must be determined first who the perpetrator is and what the source is. We will summon and mediate later. In principle, regardless of the type of business, it is not allowed to pollute the environment," he said.
The case of changing the color of the water in Rawa Buntu is not the first time this has happened. Ciater village head, Rosidi, said a similar phenomenon had occurred twice.
"This is twice. We have coordinated with RT/RW, later when there is information that can be accounted for, we will convey it," he said.
