Exclusive Video: Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Central Executive Board, Akhmad Munir, Emphasizes that Press Freedom is Guaranteed by Law
JAKARTA - Freedom of the press in Indonesia is recognized by the constitution and law. Therefore, according to the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) for the 2025–2030 period, Drs. H. Akhmad Munir, there should be no censorship or restriction of journalists. The recent withdrawal of the identity card of a journalist assigned to the Palace indicates an attempt to restrict press freedom. "There is Article 28 letter F of the 1945 Constitution, Law No. 40 of 1999 concerning the Press, and the Journalists' Code of Ethics. In addition, we must also understand the derivative regulations of the law that regulate press issues," he told VOI.
