SEZ Mandalika Records Economic Turnover Of IDR 4.8 Trillion During MotoGP 2025
JAKARTA - The 2025 Mandalika MotoGP event has also been a driver of the large economic turnover in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Based on data from the Ministry of Tourism and the Provincial Government of NTB, the total economic turnover during the event was around Rp4.8 trillion, which includes the accommodation, transportation, culinary sector, as well as sales of MSME products and the creative industry.
Of this number, as many as 67,905 spectators attended the peak day (race day), a significant increase compared to 2024 which recorded a total of 60,709 spectators.
In addition to increasing the number of spectators, MGPA also recorded an increase of 36 percent on visits to the Paddock area and VIP Village, showing an increasing interest in tourists towards Indonesia's leading sport tourism destination.
Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs as Chair of the Implementing Team of the National Council for Special Economic Zones (KEK) Susiwijono Moegiarso, emphasized that the success of holding the 2025 MotoGP proves the effectiveness of the Mandalika SEZ as a catalyst for regional economic growth.
President Prabowo Subianto asked for a direct report on the development of all SEZs and the positive impact on the regional economy, especially the Mandalika SEZ, which contributed significantly to economic growth. This momentum must be used to strengthen the competitiveness of the region and attract more strategic investments," he said.
Furthermore, Susi also emphasized that this success was the result of cross-ministerial/Institutional collaboration, Regional Government, and Tourism SOEs such as ITDC and InJourney which succeeded in making Mandalika a national sports-tourism icon and world-class leading destination.
He conveyed that until June 2025, the Mandalika SEZ recorded an investment realization of IDR 5.7 trillion, with employment reaching 19,010 people and 28 active business actors operating within the area.
Susi said that the Government is committed to maintaining the sustainability of Mandalika's development as a center for tourism, sports and international investment activities, as well as a driving force for economic growth in eastern Indonesia.

Furthermore, he said there needs to be an efficient transportation service development plan such as Sea-Plane which connects with various other tourist destinations, so that it can increase tourist connectivity to the Mandalika SEZ, especially in supporting direct access from other tourist destinations in Indonesia.
He conveyed that as the only SEZ in Indonesia developed based on sports tourism (sport-tourism), Mandalika has shown a real contribution to increasing investment, opening employment opportunities, and strengthening Indonesia's image as a world tourist destination.
In addition, Susi also conveyed that in the midst of the boisterous 2025 Mandalika MotoGP event, there is one place that is no less interesting than the engine track, namely the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery and Lombok Sumbawa Museum of Civilization.
According to him, the presence of this gallery is a special attraction for visitors to enjoy interactive experiences around the world of MotoGP racing and cultural wealth. The construction of this museum is considered important so that spectators and tourists can get to know more closely Lombok's culture and history.
"It is very good that the NTB Provincial Government uses this international event like MotoGP to introduce Lombok culture to the world," he concluded.
