On The Eighth Day Of The Search, Basarnas Evacuated 54 Bodies Of Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School Victims
JAKARTA - Basarnas noted that as of Monday morning, a total of 54 bodies of victims of the collapse of the Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building in Buduran, Sidoarjo, East Java, were successfully evacuated, five of which were body parts.
"The latest update was at 03.34 WIB, we found one more body so that the total was 54, including five body parts, so the total number of intact bodies that had been evacuated was 49," Basarnas Operations Director Yudhi Bramantyo in a press conference attended from Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA Monday, October 6 morning.
From the emergency post, he revealed that today or the eighth day after the incident, the joint SAR team was still focusing on searching on the south side of the collapsed building because it was believed that there were still victims who were caught at the location.
Based on the results of the officer's mapping, it is estimated that at least four victims were identified, three at the front and one at the back of the south side of the building.
"Our hope today can be completed, because the target is still being pursued," he said.
Basarnas continues to coordinate with elements of the TNI, Polri, and technical team, to ensure the search runs safely, considering that some of the structure of the building is still attached and at risk of collapsing again.
