Police Take Action On 2 Thousands Of Strobo And Illegal Rotator In Vehicles, This Is The Punishment And Danger
The Directorate of Law Enforcement (Dirgakkum) of Korlantas Polri emphasized its commitment to take firm action against the misuse of strobos and rotator lights on the highway. From 2021 to 2025, it was recorded that thousands of violators had been sanctioned.
The Director of Law Enforcement at Korlantas Polri, Brigadier General Pol Faizal, revealed that his party had taken action against 2,062 violations related to the use of sirens and rotators that did not comply with the rules.
"So our records from 2021, 2025, we have taken action against approximately 2,062 violators. So actually we have taken action," said Brigadier General Pol Faizal, quoted from the official website of Korlantas Polri, Monday, October 6.
Brigadier General Pol Faizal explained that the use of sirens and rotators had been clearly regulated in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, and previously regulated in Law Number 14 of 1992.
"The action is in the form of a ticket. The ticket in article 287 paragraph (4), it is imprisonment for 1 month, a fine of Rp. 250 thousand, and must be removed," he explained.
Furthermore, Faizal said that violations were not only committed by the general public, but also by individuals who felt they had certain privileges. The police asked officials to empathize with other road users.
"Compur, there are officials, the community is also there. Because they feel they may have a little bit of confidence. But we ask them, that path is a place to empathize, a place for us to respect each other," he said.

To strengthen supervision, Korlantas has also sent official letters to all police work units to tighten supervision of the use of official vehicles. This step aims to prevent misuse of sirens and rotators beyond their interests.
People see official vehicles like the ones I wear, use rotators or sirens, that doesn't matter. Because its function is for the benefit of the service. But the problem is that many vehicles are 'preman', their number plates are 'preman', using strobos and even sirens," he said.
Through this decisive step, Korlantas Polri hopes that public awareness in traffic can increase, as well as the use of sirens and rotators again in their function as an official official vehicle assistance in carrying out their duties.
The Danger Of Illegal Strobo According To Experts
Meanwhile, the automotive expert of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Yannes Martinus Pasaribu emphasized that the use of illegal strobe lights on private vehicles is very dangerous for traffic safety.
'Strobo is a flickering visual signal that is deliberately made very striking so that road users give priority to emergency vehicles. If used carelessly, the effect can be confusing and dangerous," Yannes said recently.
According to him, the flash of thestrobe is very effective in attracting attention, especially at night or during bad weather. However, if used in civilian vehicles, it has the potential to reduce the concentration of other drivers, cause panic, trigger sudden maneuvers such as sudden braking or switching lanes without calculation.
