Evacuation Of Al Khoziny Sidoarjo Islamic Boarding School Victims, Six Bodies Successfully Identified

SIDOARJO - The East Java Regional Police (Polda Jatim) deployed a Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team to speed up the identification process for victims of the collapse of the Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo. The latest report states that six victims' bodies were identified.

Head of Dokkes Polda Jatim Police Commissioner M. Khusnan said the six bodies were still in the process of taking post mortem data at Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya.

"Since this morning there are still six bodies that are in the identification process. So out of a total of 32 body bags, minus six that are still being worked on, the rest have been taken post mortem data," he said at the Bhayangkara Hospital of the East Java Police, Surabaya, quoting ANTARA on Sunday, October 5.

Authorities reported that there were 37 body bags received by the team, including five victims who had previously died. Of these, eight bodies have been identified.

Khusnan emphasized that the identification process was carried out 24 hours full of alternate work systems by forensic doctors and the East Java Regional Police DVI team.

"Our team works day and night so that the identification process can be completed quickly. This is also the hope of the victim's family," he said.

Currently, DNA samples of all bodies and body parts are to be sent to the Police Medical and Health Center (Pusdokkes) in Jakarta by flight this afternoon.

"All DNA samples have been taken and sent to Jakarta. If later there are additional body parts with suitable DNA results, they will be combined because they belong to one person," he concluded.
