MotoGP Mandalika Boosts Regional Economic Growth And Records Best Implementation
MANDALIKA Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2025 at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), in 2025 recorded the best implementation since it was first held. This world racing event presents an increasing implementation standard, both in terms of technicality, audience service, and infrastructure support.
Public enthusiasm for this race can be seen from the hotel occupancy rate in The Mandalika area which reaches 100 percent full, even exceeding the available capacity.
According to data from the NTB Tourism Office, the average occupancy rate of hotels on the island of Lombok during the racing period reached 93 percent, with Mataram City at 90 percent, while The Mandalika area was fully recorded at 100 percent.
President Director of InJourney, Maya Watono stated, Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2025 is not only a world-class motorcycle racing event, but an important momentum in promoting Indonesian tourism and culture to the eyes of the international community.
"This year is the best implementation, marked by hotel occupancy in the Mandalika area which reaches 100%, as well as cooperation with various parties to increase flights due to high demand," he said in a written statement, Sunday, October 5.
Maya also added that this event is a momentum to see how cultural wealth and local wisdom can be displayed through this event. This strengthens the positioning of Mandalika as a sportstainment tourism that provides tangible benefits for the growth of local communities.
This condition not only confirms the high interest of spectators, both domestically and abroad, but also shows the positive impact of this event on the NTB tourism sector as a whole, ranging from improving the performance of the local hotel industry, transportation, to MSMEs which are also driven by the surge in tourists.
As a form of support for the high flow of visits, a number of airlines also added extra flights to Lombok. In total there are 44 extra flights, consisting of Garuda Indonesia (18 flights), Citilink (10 flights), AirAsia (8 flights), Pelita Air (2 flights), and Wings Air (6 flights). The addition of this flight frequency confirms the role of MotoGP as a driver of tourist mobility as well as an accelerator for NTB tourism growth.
More than just a motorsport competition, this year's event is also a space for cultural meetings that introduce local wisdom, arts, and Sasak customs to the world. Starting from welcoming the arrival of racers and spectators with cultural attractions, distinctive culinary delights, to local crafts displayed, the entire series of activities presents authentic nuances of Central Lombok.
