Global Sumud Flotilla Confirms Its Activity Infiltrating Israel's Blockade Against Gaza Is Legal

JAKARTA - Public activist Wanda Hamidah emphasized that the efforts of Global Sumud Flotilla to penetrate Israel's blockade against Gaza were legal and protected activities by international regulations.

Wanda is one of the Indonesian delegates who is trying to join the humanitarian ship convoy to Gaza - Global Sumud Flotilla, although on her way she has not succeeded in joining the humanitarian mission ship.

"What we are doing is legal, what we are doing is protected by international laws and regulations," Wanda told reporters in the South Jakarta area after landing at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Saturday night.

Wanda emphasized that the distribution of humanitarian aid is guaranteed by international humanitarian law listed at the 1949 Geneva Convention, UN Charter, to UN Security Council Resolution.

Even the International Court (ICJ), he said, had ruled that Israel's Chief Authority Benjamin Netanyahu committed genocide and ordered Netanyahu's arrest.

But instead of being protected, Wanda highlighted 500 participants of Global Sumud Flotilla who were arrested by Israeli forces. Some have been deported to their respective countries, while others are still being held.

"If we sign a deportation letter, we will be sent back home, but if you don't want to sign a deportation letter we will be detained in Israeli prison," he said.

Furthermore, the activist emphasized that the purpose of his activities was to raise the awareness of the people, especially Indonesian citizens, that we must free Palestine from colonialism, as mandated by the opening of the 1945 Constitution.

"That we no longer want colonialism on earth, Indonesia, and we reject any acts that are inhumane and Indonesia rejects any actions that are not fair. This is clear, this is the essence of the 1945 Law," he stressed.

As for all ships participating in Global Sumud Flotilla, a convoy of humanitarian aid trying to break through Israel's Zionist blockade of the Gaza Strip, is confirmed to have been intercepted by Israeli forces.

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Friday, the Polish-flagged 'Marinette' was the last of 44 participating ships Global Sumud Flotilla intercepted by Israel on Friday morning.

The Marinette last detected was about 43 nautical miles from Gaza's territorial waters before being stopped by Israeli Zionists, Al Jazeera quoted reports of ship tracking.

On Thursday (2/10), Israeli Zionist forces began arresting activists after intercepting Global Sumud Flotilla ships seeking to sail to Gaza to send humanitarian aid.
