Anwar: Limited, Malaysian Support For Trump's Plan On Gaza
KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed that the support his government has given to the peace plan in Gaza by US President Donald Trump is currently still limited.
"Regarding the agreement [Trump peace plan], I declare limited support. Because we still want to see the guarantees of freedom and independence of Palestine," Anwar said in a video statement seen in Kuala Lumpur, Saturday (4/10).

He said Malaysia's decision would also be related to the decisions of Arab-Islamic countries and the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.
So far, Hamas has asked Israel to stop attacks, release Palestinian prisoners, and provide access to humanitarian aid, which Anwar says needs to be explained in more detail.
He also said that the most important aspects and dimensions today are high wisdom and patience, especially to stop attacks immediately, ensure a safe situation, and open access to humanitarian aid.
Anwar stated that Arab countries, especially Qatar, Turkey and the Islamic world play an important role in ensuring the ceasefire runs permanently and revives opportunities for conflict resolution politically.
On the other hand, the United States is also considered to have taken great responsibility, in particular putting pressure on Israel to submit and respect its obligations, and to provide space and opportunities for diplomacy.
"At the end of this month, I will welcome President Trump
"To Kuala Lumpur, to coincide with the East Asian Summit, and the ASEAN-US session," said Anwar.
He said he was waiting and expecting dialogue spaces and discourse to open up about how Malaysia, along with other ASEAN members, could contribute ideas about a just and peaceful world, which includes and guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and sovereign Palestinian states.
