Watch Guan Yin The Musical In Jakarta, This Is Menbud Fadli Zon's Comment

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture (Menbud), Fadli Zon, emphasized that culture has an important role as a binding power in the midst of politics that often divides.

He conveyed this while attending the inaugural performance of Guan Yin The Musical: Four Welas Asih Stories at Jiexpo Theater, Kemayoran, Friday, October 3, 2025, WIB night.

"Culture always reminds us of the noble values of humanity. If politics sometimes breaks down, culture actually comes as an unifying force."

"Therefore, we are happy to see the more musical dramas displayed on the magnificent stage like tonight. Hopefully in the future more works will be appreciated by the community," said Menbud Fadli.

According to him, Guan Yin The Musical is not just entertainment, but also cultural events that combine music, dance, and theater with an eternal message of affection, concern, and empathy.

This show is also proof that musical dramas are growing and can be a medium of expression for Indonesia's cultural wealth.

"Our culture is extraordinary. If the word diversion alone is not enough, then Indonesia is mega-diversity. Through a show like this, we are invited to appreciate and be inspired to continue to develop musical dramas in the future," said Minister ofbud Fadli, who officially opened the show.

This show was presented by Sutina Irsan, chairman and initiator, who emphasized the message of love and inspiration for all audiences.

"Hopefully everyone who attends can bring home happiness and kindness," he said.

The Minister of Religion, Nasaruddin Umar, in his remarks via video added that this work is not just a spectacle, but a space to feel universal value, namely compassion, sincerity, and togetherness, in line with the spirit of nationality and religious harmony in Indonesia.

The inaugural performance was also attended by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, Director General of Buddhist Guidance at the Ministry of Religion Supriyadi, General Chairperson of Walubi S. Hartati Murdaya, as well as spiritual figures and Buddhist communities.

Guan Yin The Musical presents four stories: Legend Miao Shan, Guan Yin with Fish Basketball, Guan Yin who Sprinkles Water, and Guan Yin who Don't Want to Go.

These stories display the value of Guan Yin's compassion which is relevant to modern life.

This event will take place October 3'5, 2025 at the Jiexpo Theater, with five shows.
