KOI Wants Indonesia To Actively Hold International Events

JAKARTA The 2025 World Youth and Junior Sambo Championship is considered new as the first step for Indonesia to hold a bigger international event.

The President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia), Raja Sapta Oktohari, said that this World Championship shows Indonesia's readiness to hold other sports parties on a larger scale.

"I'm sure this isn't the last time. This is just the beginning and in the future we hope to hold an even bigger event," said Okto, Raja Sapta Oktohari's greeting, in his remarks.

World Youth and Junior Sambo Championship 2025 or the 2025 World Championships for Youth and Junior 2025 was attended by more than 400 athletes from 40 countries. This is the first time Indonesia has held this prestigious annual event.

Okto also admitted that he was happy that the Sambo International Federation (FIAS) could give confidence to Indonesia to hold an important event in their calendar.

"To President Sambo, first of all I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the extraordinary opportunity given to us to organize this prestigious event," he said.

Okto continued that this World Championship is not just a race and a medal match in the arena, but also a sign of history.

"For athletes and officials, I need to emphasize that we are not just watching a match, but we are making history. Thank you to the management of JSI for fully supporting the holding of this extraordinary event," he said.

Indonesia has deployed a total of 32 athletes in this championship. This number consists of 18 athletes who appear at the junior level and the rest play at the youth level.

On the first day of the event, Friday, October 3, 2025, Indonesia received a bronze medal through the Handezka Vaktorias athlete from the men's 64 kg cattle junior class.
