Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources: Supply From Dumai Oil Refinery Remains Normal After The Fire

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) stated that the operation of the Dumai Refinery in Riau was still running normally despite experiencing a fire incident on Wednesday, October 1 night.

The Director General (Dirjen) of Oil and Gas (Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Laode Sulaeman, explained that from the start his party had received a report from the refinery management, the incident did not interfere with the refinery's operations.

" Globally, even at night, at midnight we were informed by GM that (the fire) did not interfere with the existing operation, so the important thing was," said Laode when met in Jakarta, Friday, confiscated by Antara.

He emphasized that the fuel supply from the Dumai Refinery was still running normally without significant obstacles. All systems remain under control so that community energy needs are not disrupted and do not have a broad impact.

"Operational masih normal. Jadi pasokan dari Kilang Dumai juga masih tetap. Jadi semuanya masih terkendali, enggak ada hal-hal yang sangat spesif," ujarnya.

However, Laode said the exact cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained. The investigation process is still ongoing and the results will only be submitted after the technical inspection is completed by the relevant parties.

Regarding the units affected by the fire, Laode has not provided a detailed explanation. He emphasized that technical information is waiting for the results of an official investigation, so that the public can receive information according to the facts on the ground.

"Not yet (it is known that the firekeeper) is still in the process of being investigated. Later, when it comes to the specifics, I can't convey it yet," he added.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia sent a team to check the Dumai Refinery, Riau, which caught fire on Wednesday (1/10) night, to find out the cause of the fire.

"My team has not returned from the location (of the fire)," said Bahlil after attending the launch of the New Logo BPH Migas in Jakarta, Thursday (2/10).

PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Refinery Unit II Dumai oil refinery, Riau Province, reportedly caught fire at around 20.30 WIB, Wednesday (1/10) night. The sound of a loud explosion accompanied the refinery fire.

The Pertamina Dumai Refinery emergency response team managed to overcome a fire in one of the operational units, so the situation was in a safe condition and was successfully controlled at 23.20 WIB.

The process of investigating the cause of the incident is being carried out to ensure more optimal preventive measures in the future.

Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR of Pertamina Dumai Refinery Agustiawan ensured that the supply of fuel oil (BBM) remained safe after the fire that hit one of its units on Wednesday (1/10) night.

This refinery has a total capacity of 170 MBPOD with product outputs, namely Solar, Avtur, Pertalite, Pertadex, MFO-LS, LSFO, UCO, NBF, smooth fluid, LPG and Green Chocolate.
