VOI Today: Danantara Urged To Build Oil Refinery, Without Involving Pertamina

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya's remarks about Pertamina deliberately burning oil refineries into a conspiracy. The day after Purbaya's statement, an oil refinery in Dumai, Riau caught fire.

A number of experts also agree with Purbaya's statement with supportive hypotheses. One of them is energy economic observer Fahmy Pophi who is a member of the 2014 Anti-Mafia Migas Team chaired by Faisal Basri.

According to him, Pertamina's suspicion of deliberately burning the refinery so that refinery production decreases, so imports can increase. Fahmy also asked Danantara not to involve Pertamina in building a new oil refinery because he strongly suspects that the oil and gas mafia are in Pertamina's own body.

He also asked President Prabowo Subianto to intervene directly in eradicating the oil and gas mafia because he said the oil and gas mafia was very difficult to eradicate.
