Pelni Presents Floating Hotel In Wasior, West Papua, Check Date
PT Pelasero Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or Pelni is collaborating with the Teluk Wondama Regency Government to present a floating hotel in Wasior, Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua.
This collaboration was marked by the signing of the PELNI Passenger Transport Business Director Nuraini Dessy and Teluk Wondama Regent Elysa Auri, SE., MM at the PELNI Headquarters, Jakarta on Thursday, October 2.
Pelni Nuraini Passenger Transport Business Director Dessy said this floating hotel was a manifestation of Pelni's presence to support the Celebration of 1 Century Civilization in Teluk Wondama Regency.
"We are proud to be able to contribute to the 1st Anniversary of Civilization in Teluk Wondama Regency through the use of KM Sinabung as a floating hotel. This is a tangible manifestation of PELNI's commitment to supporting spiritual events and tourism, as well as providing experience for invited guests with comfortable and modern floating accommodation facilities," said Dessy in an official statement, Friday, October 3.
Dessy said Pelni used KM Sinabung as a floating hotel in Wasior, Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua. This floating hotel will operate from October 24 to 25 and October 26 to 28, 2025.
"Later on, KM Sinabung will sail on the Manokwari-Wasior route to serve the needs of invited guest accommodation during the series of celebrations," he said.
Dessy also emphasized that this step was part of Pelni's efforts to expand the role of ships not only as a mode of transportation, but also as an innovative means to support strategic activities in the regions.
"We hope this initiative can be a sustainable synergy model to support similar activities in the future and can have a positive impact on local communities, including increasing tourist visits," said Dessy.
For your information, Pelni as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) company engaged in shipping services currently operates 25 passenger ships serving 511 segments with 1,359 routes and overseeing 74 ports.

In addition to passenger transportation, Pelni also serves 30 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where the pioneer ship oversees 230 ports with a total of 522 sections.
Pelni also operates 18 rede vessels. For logistics business services, Pelni currently operates 8 sea toll routes and one special route for livestock ships.
