Addie MS's Story When Recording The Song Indonesia Raya Symphony Version, Which Is Still Playing Until Now

JAKARTA - Addie MS's name cannot be separated from the use of the Indonesia Raya national anthem which is currently being played at various moments and places, both in the Commemoration of Independence Day at the State Palace and in music concerts held in the country.

The song created by WR Supratman, which was presented in the form of air music, was done by Addie MS in the 1990s.

Addie said that at that time he was surprised because there was no recording of the song 'Indonesia Raya' according to other countries. Reflecting on the US, the husband of the Memes singer also worked on the national anthem using a complete orchestra.

"If I hear America, on their independence day, the concept of the concert is everywhere, these struggle songs are performed in the magnificent concept of death. Why not us," said Addie MS in Kuningan, South Jakarta recently.

"At that time I protested with myself. But instead of continuing to complain, we finally made it," he added.

At that time, said Addie, the orchestra in Indonesia was not as good as it is today. As a result, the 'Indonesia Raya' orchestration was played and recorded in Melbourne, Australia.

Not only the national anthem, Addie also worked on other national songs, such as R. Kusbini's Wake Up Young Youth' by A. Simandjuntak, as well as Free Day and Thank you by H. Mutahar.

In addition, there are also Anah Airku' and 'fly My Flag' by Mrs. Soed, Indonesia Pusaka and Rayuan Pulau Kelapa' by Ismail Marzuki, and Mars Pancasila by Sudharmoto.

"So, in 1997 we re-recorded Indonesia Raya plus nine national songs which are still being used," he said.
