Stabbing! Strange Incidents Occurred In China When Xiaomi SU7 Walked Alone From Parking

JAKARTA A surprising incident happened to the owner of the Xiaomi SU7 electric car in Shandong, China, and immediately sparked a heated debate about the security of the remote control feature on smart vehicles. It is possible that a car parked neatly in front of the house suddenly moved forward without a driver behind the wheel.

The incident that occurred on September 30 immediately went viral on Chinese social media via the hashtag "Xiaomi car sudden drives off", according to a Wave News report, which CarNewsChina continued, Friday, October 3.

In the CCTV footage shared, it can be seen that the car owner is in the house with a woman when her vehicle suddenly activates and advances forward. A panic atmosphere ensued where the woman screamed in shock, while the owner rushed out of the house to stop her car.

The owner admitted that he immediately contacted Xiaomi's customer service. Initial suspicion from the support side stated that his cellphone may have accidentally activated the remote start function. However, the claim was denied by the owner. He confirmed that his cellphone was not being used and even released complete CCTV footage to strengthen his statement.

Alleged Orders From Apple Devices

Further information circulating among industry states that car backend data shows a Remote Parking Assist (RPA) order sent from an Apple device connected to the owner's account.

This RPA feature is designed so that cars can automatically enter or get out of the parking lot through the smartphone application. Although practical, a number of observers think this kind of system must be equipped with extra security to prevent vehicles moving driverlessly in the front seat.

Call For Transparency From Xiaomi

Although it did not cause any casualties or damage, this incident revived serious discussions about the reliability of the remote control feature. Experts emphasize that this technology does bring comfort, but also requires strict failures and full openness from manufacturers to maintain consumer confidence.

The owner of SU7 also urged Xiaomi to open the original operating log completely, not just partial data cuts. As of Friday, October 3, 2025, Xiaomi has not released an official investigation report regarding this case.
