Here's How To Solve IMessage's Failed Activation Problem On IOS 26
JAKARTA A number of iOS 26 users have complained about the same problem in recent times. They were unable to activate iMessage with their phone number.
As a result, messages fail to be sent to other users or even sent as green SMS/RCS bubbles, not iMessage. It is not known how many iOS 26 users were affected by this problem.
Apple has confirmed this problem after identifying the symptoms in general. That way users can find out if they are one of the iOS 26 users who are having problems on iMessage.
When you fail to send a message, you may receive an Not Sent alert or suddenly switch to green bubble mode. Messages may also be sent from email addresses, not phone numbers.
Apple suspects that the root of this problem is the conflict with an inactive SIM Card. This problem will arise when users try to activate iMessage with an inactive SIM Card, but the number is the same as their active SIM Card.

If you experience this problem, there are improvements suggested by MacRumors. Users can delete or remove the inactive SIM Card. This step is taken so that the system can focus only on the current active phone number.
This process can be done both for physical SIM and eSIM. To start the repair, the user must open the Settings app and tap the Cellular menu. Next, the user needs to identify a SIM Card whose status is not active.
If an inactive SIM card is physical, users need to remove it from their iPhone. If it's an eSIM, users just need to tap Delete it to remove it from the device.
After the driver's license is not active, the last step is to reactivate iMessage. Users need to return to Settings, then to the App, and Messages. After that, tap Send & Receive.
