MDRN Establishes Strategic Cooperation With BUMN China Genertec
JAKARTA - PT Modern International Tbk (MDRN), which has been present in Indonesia since 1971 and is known as a pioneer in the retail and trade sector, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Genertec (General Technology of China), one of the largest State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in China.
This collaboration marks Modern International's strategic steps in expanding its business portfolio to the high-tech industrial sector, particularly through the three main pillars of the Genertec business, namely CNC-based industrial machines (Numerical Control Computers), medical equipment, and the energy sector.
Genertec is known as a global company that has a large-scale industrial engine production plant and a leading research institute in China. Through this partnership, Genertec's technology and expertise will be presented to Indonesia, supporting increased domestic production capacity and strengthening the competitiveness of the national industry in the globalization era.
Cooperation with Genertec is a tangible manifestation of the transformation of Modern International from a retail company with strong roots more than 54 years since 1971 to become an entity that is ready to play a role and contribute to the development of the high-tech industry in Indonesia. We believe this step will provide significant added value, not only for the company, but also for the national economy through job creation and technology transfer," said Sungkono Honoris, President Director of PT Modern Internasional Tbk, in his statement, Thursday, October 3.
In addition to presenting CNC machine technology that can increase the productivity of the manufacturing sector in Indonesia, Modern International and Genertec will also work together in the development of medical equipment. This step is in line with Indonesia's need to strengthen the domestic medical device industry, so that the resilience of the national health sector can be increased.
Meanwhile, in the energy sector, this collaboration opens up opportunities for Indonesia to access energy technology that is more efficient and sustainable, supporting the government's agenda in the energy transition to a greener future.
Through this MoU, Modern International and Genertec have also agreed to explore various forms of synergy, ranging from the establishment of production, research and development facilities, to product distribution in the Indonesian market.
We view Indonesia as a strategic partner in the Southeast Asia region. Through cooperation with Modern International, we are optimistic that we can present technological solutions that not only encourage industrial growth, but also contribute to long-term economic development," said Mr. Kang Hubei, Chairman of Genertec International.
