OpenAI Valuation Reaches IDR 8,305 Trillion After Selling Shares To Several Big Companies
JAKARTA OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, is reported to have reached a market valuation of 500 billion US dollars (Rp 8,305 trillion). This increase occurred after the sale of shares.
OpenAI recently struck a deal involving the sale of shares worth around US$6.6 billion (Rp109.6 trillion) by OpenAI employees and former employees. This valuation exceeds the previous company valuation which was at US$300 billion (Rp4,983 trillion).
This very rapid increase shows the massive growth of OpenAI in terms of revenue and number of users. The company even generated revenues of around 4.3 billion US dollars (Rp71.4 trillion) in the first half of 2025.

The revenue is 16 percent more than the previous year's revenue. According to a Reuters report, the shares were sold to a large investor consortium that includes Thrive Capital, SoftBank, Dragoneer Investment Group, MGX Abu Dhabi, and T. Rowe Price.
SoftBank is known to have invested previously in the main OpenAI funding round worth 40 billion (Rp664.4 trillion). This sales deal adds to the significant investment that SoftBank has invested.
Overall, OpenAI has authorized the sale of shares in the secondary market worth more than 10 billion US dollars (Rp166.1 trillion). This agreement shows the high demand for investors for the shares of the Artificial Intelligence company (AI).
