Chelsea Vs Liverpool: Stamford Bridge, A Hell Hard To Go Through The Reds

JAKARTA - Chelsea will host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night 4 October in the 2025/2026 Premier League continuation. This classic duel arrives at a time when both teams are both convex. Liverpool have just lost their top spot in the standings, while Chelsea are still struggling to find consistency under Enzo Maresca's direction.

Chelsea were predicted to be a dark horse in the title race this season, but their performance was not in line with expectations. Of the first six Premier League matches, the Blues have recorded only two wins, two draws, and two defeats.

Last weekend, discipline was again a major problem. Trevoh Chalobah was shown a red card in the match against Brighton & Hove Albion, and Chelsea, who had mastered the game, finally fell 1-3 thanks to Danny Welbeck's two goals. The result made Chelsea only pocket one point from the last three league games, having previously collected seven points from the first three matches.

Even so, in the middle of the week, Chelsea rose in the Champions League by beating Benfica 1-0 through a single goal. However, the victory was again tarnished because Joao Pedro had to receive a red card at the last minute.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also shaky. After opening the season with five consecutive wins, Arne Slot's troops suddenly stumbled. They were defeated by Crystal Palace 1-2 through Eddie Nketiah's late goal, before being humiliated by Galatasaray in the Champions League with a score of 0-1 thanks to Victor Osimhen's penalty.

These two consecutive defeats were the second for Liverpool in the Arne Slot era. If Arsenal win first over West Ham United, then the Reds will step down from their homes before kick-off at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool's away record at Stamford Bridge is also not very encouraging. They failed to win in the last four games in the Premier League, including a 1-3 defeat last season, despite having already confirmed the title.

Chelsea will look limp. Trevoh Chalobah was absent due to suspension after being shown a red card against Brighton. The list of injuries is also long: Mykhaylo Mudryk (scorsing), Dario Essugo (paha), Tosin Adarbioyo (betis), Cole Palmer (korang grung), Liam Delap (paha), and Levi Colwill (lutut) are all confirmed to be absent. Wesley Fofana (head injury) and Andrey Santos (light injury) still need evaluation.

If Fofana does not pass the concussion protocol, then teenager Josh Acheampong could be an emergency solution at the heart of defense, duet with Benoit Badiashile or Jorrel Hato.

Liverpool were a little bit lucky, but they were also hit by a big blow. Alisson Becker's main goalkeeper was ruled out due to a groin injury against Galatasaray. Hugo Ekitike also had problems with muscle injuries, although there was still a chance to recover on time. Alexander Isak is confirmed to appear and has the potential to score at Stamford Bridge for the third season in a row.

On the positive side, Federico Chiesa can return to action after recovering from a minor injury. However, Giovanni Leoni still had to be sidelined in the long term due to an ACL injury.

Chelsea have almost always been able to score goals, with eight consecutive games always breaking into the opponent's goal since the goalless draw against Crystal Palace in the opening week. But the problem of discipline and injury storms makes them unreliable.

Liverpool themselves are also fragile in the back lines and did not appear as sure last season. With the condition of both teams shaky, the draw seems to be the most realistic scenario.

This match can be a moment of revival, but is also prone to increasing pressure for Maresca and Slot if the results come back disappointing. Stamford Bridge is ready to be a stage full of tension for drama.
