Mariah Carey Opens Voice Again Regarding Conflict With Eminem

JAKARTA - The old puzzle surrounding the beginning of the feud between Mariah Carey and Eminem has returned to the public. This stems from the appearance of the diva in the "Please the Fifth" segment at the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

In the event, Carey gave a new explanation regarding the feud with Eminem, including rumors of an offer to play Eminem's mother in a semi-autobiographic film, 8 Mile.

The conversation about the dispute began when Carey was asked if the offer to play Eminem's mother in the film 8 Mile was the beginning of the problem.

"From what I heard, there is the truth behind that," Carey told Andy Cohen as the host, quoted by Billboard, Friday, October 3.

"However, I don't think he really did well, who knows who approached who."

Cohen urged further. He asked, "But is that what sparked the feud?"

Carey also tried to answer again. "UM, no. I mean, maybe. It depends on what he thinks. I really don't care. Like, whatever he's said, I've received, well. Not really. But it's just rap lyrics."

At the start of the summer this year, Damion 'Damizza Young' music producer who started working with Carey in the late 1980s made a claim on a podcast TFU. Young said he was the one who introduced Eminem to the diva.

Young said Eminem wanted Carey to play the character of her mother who is an alcoholic at 8 Mile, even though Carey is only four years older than Eminem. Carey finally rejected the role, which ultimately fell into Kim Basinger's hands.

"Uncertainty really appears," said Young.

Furthermore, Eminem has repeatedly inserted a lyric reference regarding his alleged relationship with Carey over the years, which began in 2001.

His 2002 album, Eminem Show, contains various mentions of the rumored romance, especially in songs such as When the Music Stops and Superman.

However, Carey has consistently denied romantic relationships with Eminem ever happened.

"I've been hanging out with him, I talked to him on the phone. I think I'm with him a total of four times. And I don't think of it as dating someone," he said in an interview with Larry King in 2002.

In 2009, Carey also seemed to satirize Eminem satirically in the music video OBSsed. In the video, he dressed up as a male stalking act that was widely interpreted as a response to the rapper's lyrics.
