BPS Records The Highest Riau Province Monthly Inflation In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Riau Province Central Statistics Agency noted that the monthly inflation in the local area in September 2025 was the highest nationally, at 1.11 percent based on the development of the consumer price index from August.

Head of BPS Riau Asep Riyadi said, nationally out of 38 provinces as many as 24 experienced inflation and 14 deflations occurred.

The highest on the island of Sumatra occurred in Riau Province and the lowest in Lampung.

"Nationally, it turns out that Riau is the highest inflation on a monthly basis (month to month). National inflation is 0.21 percent, while Riau inflation is 1.11 percent, while the deepest deflation is in South Papua, -1.08 percent," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 2.

Based on the expenditure group, it is known that the food and beverage group experienced the highest inflation of 3.01 percent. Then personal care and other services 1.33 percent and education 0.05 percent.

Based on the commodity causes inflation, namely the increase in the price of red chili which is very extraordinary in contributing 1.11 percent.

Furthermore, the price of consistent jewelry gold continues to increase by 0.10 percent and other live chickens, chicken bras, and oranges.

"The price of red chili rose by uncertain weather conditions so that many farmers experienced crop failure. Gold also consistently rose higher due to global influence," he said.

Meanwhile, for annual inflation (year on year) from 38 provinces experiencing inflation, 37 provinces and one deflation in North Maluku.

"Inflasi tahunan menjadi peringatan karena sudah sangat tinggi, dibanding target pemerintah yakni plus minus 2,5 persen. Yang signifikan kelompok makanan minuman dan tembakau yang inflasi 10,79 persen dengan andil 3,42 persen," sebutnya.

Komoditas utama penyebab inflasi tahunan juga cabai merah dan emas perhiasan diikuti bawang merah, daging, ayam beras, dan ayam hidup.

Diketahui, memang harga cabai merah di Pekanbaru bahkan sempat mencapai Rp100.000 per kilogram akhir-akhir ini.

Nationally, the highest ranking was North Sumatra and the second Riau was 5.08 percent.

"The annual inflation is a warning because it is already very high, compared to the government's target of plus minus 2.5 percent. What is significant is the food and tobacco group which inflation 10.79 percent with a 3.42 percent share," he said.

The main commodities that cause annual inflation are also red chilies and gold jewelry followed by shallots, meat, rice chicken, and live chicken.

It is known that the price of red chilies in Pekanbaru has even reached Rp. 100,000 per kilogram recently.
