Governor Of Banten: No Business Protested Because Tourism Is Closed, Public Interest Must Be Enforced

SERANG - Banten Governor Wahidin Halim stated his policy in closing tourist destinations in Banten in an effort to protect citizens, because of fears that the case of COVID-19 in Banten again increased after the Eid al-Fitr holiday of 1442 H.

According to him, the condition of the accumulation of tourists in various tourist attractions in Banten has been very worrying. Closures should be taken as a measure to prevent or protect the public from the spread and transmission of COVID-19.

"The closure will be done until May 30, 2021, but in the course of the trip we will evaluate every time. How the last condition of course we will discuss again with friends in Forkopimda," said Banten Governor Wahidin Halim in Serang quoted Antara, Monday, May 17.

In relation to the rejection of the Banten governor's instruction on the closure of tourist destinations from certain groups, the Governor of Banten confirmed he would stick to his decision to close the tourist attractions. This decision was made to prevent the people of Banten from spreading COVID-19.

"It doesn't matter to be demoted. Because demos are in their interest not in the public interest. For me, the public interest must be upheld and prioritized," Wahidin said.

If the tourist attractions remain open, Wahidin claimed to be unable to imagine what happened after the holiday ended. It is not unlikely that the case of COVID-19 in Banten will increase and the community will also be the victims.

"I don't want to. Because I do not want Banten that has entered the Yellow Zone all, there will be transmission. Not just because it is in the interests of a group of people just to satisfy his wishes to have to sacrifice others," he said.

"There is no business wanting to protest, want to demo, want to be sued. But the fact yesterday is clear that the community can no longer be organized, and the government must behave," Wahidin added.

Meanwhile, in relation to the sanctions that will be given to the provocateur of Ingub's rejection of the closure of tourist attractions, the Governor and his team are still inventorying the non-compliance of the manager of the tourist attraction or certain groups.

"At least I've told you that this is closed. There's still something coming but it's diminishing. If yesterday can not be controlled, this is also what might make the manager can not do anything," he said.

In relation to other efforts that will be made, the Governor ensures that they will do tracking and tracing at least 7 (seven) days after Eid al-Fitr. It is a definite procedure to know and prevent the impact of the holiday.

"Test after Eid we must do tracking and tracing it is already a task and provisions. Later in the day 7 (seven) we check, this is indeed a step that is definitely done. Everywhere I feel like that, including in Banten. We'll see how this crowd impacts," Wahidin said.
