DPRD Urges Transportation Agency To Report Illegal Parking Operators To Police

The Parking Special Committee (Pansus) of the DKI Jakarta DPRD urged the Parking Management Unit (UP) of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency to report operators of illegal parking to the police.

According to the Chairman of the Parking Special Committee for the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Jupiter, the act of this unauthorized parking operator is tax evasion that can lead to criminal acts.

Therefore, the action taken by the Transportation Agency is not enough just to seal the unlicensed parking lot.

"What has been done so far, we still have to reveal the sins. We ask the Parking UP to make a police report because this is extortion and this is a crime," Jupiter told reporters, Thursday, October 2.

In addition, the Parking Special Committee also asked the DKI Jakarta Investment and One Stop Integrated Service (DPMPTSP) to no longer issue parking permits to parking operators who were known to manage illegal parking previously.

"Strictly speaking, the parking committee will not recommend and we will convey to the PTSP Office not to give permission again to operators that have been sealed," he said.

On the other hand, Jupiter estimates, the total potential lost regional income due to embezzlement of parking operator taxes reached trillions of rupiah.

"The potential loss, I believe, is increasing in Jakarta. The potential for local revenue from the parking sector and also from the rental sector for the land of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, which should be the original regional income, can be more than IDR 1.4 trillion," explained Jupiter.

Last Wednesday, October 1, the Parking Special Committee (Pansus) of the DKI Jakarta DPRD again conducted an inspection of the illegal off-street parking location.

Inspections were carried out in four locations. Among them are the East Sentra Apartment in Pulo Gebang with parking operator PT Duta Selaras Solsindo, University of BSI Campus Pemuda in Rawamangun with operators of the BSI Rawamangun Foundation, Liga Pengadegan Language Institute Building with Kopkar operator Foundation Bahasa Lia, and Cikini Gold Center with operator PT Rodial Indonesia.

The four parking locations were immediately sealed and put on stickers by the DKI Transportation Agency. The sealed parking gate is prohibited from operating at this time. It is noted that the DKI Transportation Agency has sealed 20 illegal parking lots in Jakarta.
