Badanas Asks Bulog To Check All Warehouses To Ensure Rice Quality For The Community

JAKARTA The Government Rice Reserve Stock (CBP) managed by Perum Bulog to be distributed to the public must be of good quality.

Therefore, the National Food Agency (Bapanas) asked Perum Bulog to check with the warehouses.

Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi said that currently the ongoing distribution program is in the form of food assistance and stabilization of rice Supply and Food Prices (SPHP).

Therefore, Arief emphasized that there should be no poor quality Bulog rice that reaches the community, both as recipients of food assistance and as buyers.

The point is that the rice distributed to the community must be good. No reason whatsoever. So the National Food Agency assigned Bulog to distribute food aid. It must be good. Then the implementation of the rice SPHP must also be good. No one should have bad quality," said Arief in an official statement, Thursday, October 2.

Arief admitted that in Bulog's rice warehouse there must be old stock and treatment or treatment needs to be done. Even so, he said not all of them were in stock for a long time, but there were also new stocks.

There must be new stock, there must be something that needs treatment. But if you get to the customer, it must be good. It must be safe too. The Food Agency also sent a team to Bulog to check randomly. Moreover, there are 1,580 warehouses," he said.

Arief has also asked the ranks in Bulog, from directors, regional leaders (pimwil) to branch leaders (pimca), to ensure this quality.

He encouraged the reprocessing stage to maintain the quality of rice stocks before they were distributed.

"We have asked the directors of Bulog, picca, pimwil to check in each warehouse. This morning I also communicated with Bulog's friends. No bad rice should come out. But if in Bulog's warehouse there must be something that needs to be processed, there are stages. The stages are in reprocess first," he said.

For Arief, rice stocks in Bulog always need to be maintained because the government needs it as an intervention when rice production and consumption are not balanced on a monthly basis.

At that momentum, rice prices often rise. People need a quality alternative rice, but still at prices below the market.

"This is us in November, December, January, February, of course production is not as high as yesterday. That must be anticipated by all of us. November, December, January, February, between the needs and production, it is not balanced, so the current Bulog stock is to cover it, until there is a big harvest," he said.

Arief also warned not to let the stock not come out, because later in March and April, it is time to absorb domestically produced crops.

The main thing is that the SPHP target of 1.3 million tons must be completed. There are still about 1 million tonnes left until December. Today's SPHP realization from the beginning of the year has reached 422,000 tons," he said.

The steps to intensify the overlapping intervention carried out by the government began to feel the positive impact.
