Jakarta-Indogrosir Bank Establishes Disabilities Shop In East Jakarta

JAKARTA - Bank Pembangunan daerah (BPD) Bank Jakarta together with Indogrosir founded the Mandiri Indogrosir (TMI) Shop on Jalan Mandor Hasan, Bambu Apus, East Jakarta.

This retail store is not just a shopping place, but a learning room for people with disabilities, especially the Grahita tuna, to manage modern retail businesses.

Behind the birth of TMI Disabled, there is the figure of Sukarmi Ningsih. The civil servant at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Tourism Office has been living in Bambu Apus for more than two decades. His concern for the environment made him encourage the formation of a forum that not only provided job opportunities for people with disabilities but also trained them to stand on their own feet.

"I want to show that people with disabilities can also stand on their own feet, not only waiting for help, but being able to work, manage businesses, and provide benefits to the community," said Sukarmi in his statement, Wednesday, October 1.

In its collaboration, Indogrosir prepared a retail business model, a disabled community managing operations, and Bank Jakarta provided support for banking services.

Director of Business and Sharia of Bank Jakarta, Dipo Nugroho said, this retail store will continue with the policy of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government which previously opened access lines for people with disabilities, ranging from civil servant job opportunities to the construction of more inclusive public facilities.

"Bank Jakarta believes that economic development must be inclusive. Our support for the Difabel TMI is part of Bank Jakarta's sustainability strategy in expanding access to financial services, as well as building a just MSME ecosystem," said Dipo.

Local people can deposit and withdraw cash, pay bills, and buy credit and top up balances through the JakOne application in this store.

Bank Jakarta Corporate Secretary Arie Rinaldi revealed that the facility also provides additional income for store managers, strengthening its role as part of the digital financial inclusion ecosystem.

"Through TMI Disabled, Bank Jakarta continues to strive to take on the role of regional development banks that not only focus on financial services, but also actively support social development and community empowerment, including disabled groups, so that they can grow together in realizing Jakarta as a city that is developed, modern, and just," explained Arie.
