Mathew Baker Signs Professional Contract At Melbourne City

JAKARTA - The U-17 Indonesian national team player, Mathew Baker, officially signed his first professional contract with Australian club Melbourne City.

Quoted from Melbourge City's official website on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Mathew agreed with a work agreement with a three-season contract duration. In the signing, there is also an option for an extension of the two seasons.

"Melbourne City FC is proud to announce talented young defender Mathew Baker has signed his first professional contract," Melbourne City wrote on the official website quoted Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Baker is the fifth player in Melbourne City's history to secure a professional contract at the A-League club through the Player Development Pathway program.

Mathew Baker's career journey, which is of Indonesian-Australian blood, began with the City Football school program and entered the club's Academy in 2021. Since then, the development of this versatile defender has accelerated.

In fact, two months ago, this 16-year-old player made his professional debut for Melbourne City.

Mathew Baker performed full when the club competed in the last 32 of the Australian Cup against APIA Leichhardt.

In the past two years, his name has continued to gain trust. Most recently, he even brought the team coached by Nova Arianto to qualify for the 2025 U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
