Liverpool Regret Alisson And Ekitike's Injury To The Defeat In The Champions League
JAKARTA - Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker will miss this weekend's game against Chelsea after suffering an injury when his team lost 0-1 to Galatasaray in the 2025/2026 Champions League.
The Brazilian was replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili in the 56th minute after being seen injured at Rams Park.
He is now confirmed to be absent from the away match to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with further assessment of his injury to be carried out in the coming days.
"It's never positive if you play like this. You can be sure he won't play on Saturday," Arne Slot told Amazon Prime Video after the game.
Alisson has suffered repeated injuries in the last two seasons. Last season, he was out for more than two months -- from early October to mid-December -- due to hamstring issues.

That night was a disappointing night for Liverpool in Istanbul, with Galatasaray winning thanks to Victor Osimhen's penalty in the first half after Dominik Szoboszlai was declared a foul in the penalty box.
The Reds also lost striker Hugo Ekitike due to injury. The striker limped off the pitch midway through the second half.
"He feels something when he has to win the ball. After the game, it's always been a difficult thing at times like this when the players feel not too bad."
"However, when you just walk around, it feels different from when you run fast or have to shoot on target."
"He said he couldn't continue the match, so we had to pull him out. Let's see how his condition is for this weekend," said the coach.
The injuries exacerbated Liverpool's disappointment, which has now lost in a row for the second time during Arne Slot's tenure following the defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League last week.
"Once again, disappointed. For me, this is a different appearance, both when controlling the ball and not controlling the ball (compared to Crystal Palace)."
"Our first half played pretty well and had a great chance of winning 1-0. It's hard to compare this situation with before."
"Sometimes we are a little less clever in a situation like this. I can't blame Dominik Szoboszlai for this situation."
"They made a 20 percent penalty a 100 percent penalty, which was very smart for them. We're not too far away (from the level shown last season)."
"Sometimes this is what can happen because schedules and against Galatasaray are not easy matches. Now we will face Chelsea at home to opponents, a tough game."
"The margin is thin and it was so last season. For the second time in a row, we are on the wrong side."
"I saw a lot of things in the first half, but the second half was far less. I don't think in the second half there was much playing time."
"Their stickers fell four or five times. It's hard to get momentum in the game," said the Liverpool manager.
The mission to revive Liverpool has not materialized against Galatasaray. However, getting back at Chelsea headquarters to get back on track is not an easy matter.
