Optimism Of The President Of La Liga On The Spanish Club's Training Schedule
JAKARTA - Spain's Health Minister Salvador Illa stated that the decision to continue football before the summer was an imprudent move. This contradicts the statement of the President of La Liga, Javier Tebas, who is optimistic that Spanish clubs can return to training in the near future.
"I can not tell you that professional football can be played again before the summer," said Illa at a press conference on Sunday, April 26 morning local time.
"It is a careless act, we will continue to see how the situation develops and consider a framework plan for how professional activity can follow the new normal," Illa added.
In an interview with radio station Cadena Cope, Tebas emphasized the position of La Liga, as the operator of professional football competitions in Spain, still confident that the 2019/20 season can continue in mid-May to June. However, it certainly comes with the necessary safety protocols.
Tebas believes that on May 4 the Spanish Ministry of Health will reply to the proposal for a security protocol that has been submitted by La Liga to continue the competition.
Moreover, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has confirmed that there will be easing of several aspects of the lockdown in his country on May 2.
Spain is one of the countries in Europe hardest hit by the outbreak with 210 thousand confirmed cases of the corona virus and more than 22 thousand deaths.
The player has yet to return to training and is likely to restart the 2019-2020 interrupted season in June and June under conditions the stadium is closed from spectators.
Previously, La Liga clubs had been informed that football matches in Spain would be played in stadiums without spectators until 2021. The decision, which has not been officially announced, has been made by the Spanish government as it considers the evolution of the pandemic.
It is estimated that Spanish football stadiums will only open gradually to spectators starting January 2021, which will be carried out under strict rules to avoid the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak. Spanish stadiums will also not reach their full capacity until a vaccine is found.
