From Free To Tragic, Eating Nutritious In Garut Triggers KLB Toxic
GARUT - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Garut, West Java, has declared the status of an Extraordinary Incident (KLB) case of mass poisoning that befell hundreds of students, allegedly after consuming the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) menu in Kadungora District.
"The point is that we reiterate that because the conditions already need special treatment, we declare it as a KLB," said Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin after reviewing the condition of the patient at the Kadungora Health Center, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 1.
He stated that the determination of the KLB was based on the results of a joint meeting with related agencies, especially the Garut Health Office (Dinkes) which assessed that there were quite a number of victims and needed more intensive treatment.
With the determination of the KLB, his party issued a policy, including issuing an Unexpected Cost (BTT) budget in 2025 for handling all victims who were poisoned.
"We will cover all the financing through BTT," he said.
The Regent said that he had instructed all village heads, as well as sub-districts, as well as the ranks of the TNI and Polri, to trace residents with symptoms of poisoning so that they would immediately be treated medically.
If there are residents who consume MBG, then complain of illness as a symptom of poisoning, he said, the village will immediately contact the puskesmas to get medical treatment for free.
"So don't let it be considered okay, it's considered far away, afraid that there will be a fee, so they won't be handled properly immediately," he said.

"Yes, we are closed, because it is clear that there are already victims," said Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin.
