Ice Rain In Cikini, BMKG Calls The Seasonal Transition Period

JAKARTA - The Cikini area, Menteng, Central Jakarta experienced a strange phenomenon on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, afternoon. The area was hit by rain and falling ice grains.

This hail phenomenon was uploaded to the Instagram account @jakartapenter.info. In the video circulating, it shows the heavy rain that falls, along with small ice grains such as gravel.

The BMKG advises the public to be aware of towering and dark Cumulonimbus clouds, therefore it is a sign of potential hail and extreme weather.

BMKG Deputy for Meteorology, Guswanto, said hail could occur in tropical areas such as Indonesia, especially during the transition of seasons or transitions.

According to him, this hail becomes dangerous if people are driving. Not only that, hail will also have a serious impact if exposed to humans, vehicles or buildings.

"For this afternoon only in Cikini, but hail, the same thing happened in other areas during the transition period," he said, Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Hail can cause physical injury. Ice pellets that fall at high speed can cause injuries, especially if they are large in size.
