Bogor And Bekasi Will Be The First Region To Develop The PLTSa Project

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Environment Diaz Hendropriyono revealed that the government has pocketed two regencies/cities interested in building a Waste Power Plant (PLTSa).

Diaz said the two areas were Bogor and Bekasi.

Mnat said Diaz was shown through a letter that had been submitted by Bogor and Bekasi Regencies to KLH.

"As far as I remember, Bogor and Bekasi, who had given an official interest letter to KLH and others, were also interested, but did not know whether it had been officially submitted or not," Diaz said, Tuesday, September 30.

DIaz said that so far his ministry has identified areas with the status of waste emergency and then PLTSa will be built.

He detailed that the areas are DKI Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), and Bali. However, the government also sets certain criteria if the area wants to build a PLTSa.

"So for areas that we sort, there are criteria, for example having a land of about 5 hectares and the location must also be close to water sources and access to roads must also exist," he explained.

Later, he said, local governments will have an obligation to provide 1,000 tons of waste per day for the needs of power plants.

He added that 1,000 tons will produce PLTSa which can produce around 20 Megawatts of electricity (MW).

"For areas like Yogyakarta, it may not be enough if there is only 1 district, so maybe it will be merged such as Sleman and Bantul, and there needs to be facilitation and there needs to be a role for regional heads," he said.
