KPK Says Mercedes Benz 280 BJ Habibie Bought By Ridwan Kamil Is In Bandung

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that the Mercedes Benz 280 SL purchased by former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil from the family of the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia B. J. Habibie has not been taken to a confiscated goods storage house (rupbasan) in Cawang, East Jakarta. The vehicle is still in the workshop.

It is known that the classic car was confiscated due to corruption in the procurement of advertisements at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk or Bank BJB (BJBR). Ridwan Kamil allegedly bought the Mercy Pagoda using non-budget funds.

This non-budgeter fund is the difference in paying for the procurement of advertisements for Bank BJB returned by the tender winning company. The management is called the KPK carried out by the corporate secretary (corsec) section.

"The current position of the car is not in Rupbasan. It is still located in Bandung," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, September 30.

The KPK then decided to return the car to Ilham Habibie. The decision was taken after the president's son returned the Rp1.3 billion.

In addition, Ridwan Kamil has not paid the purchase of the car. "Later on, the car will be returned to IH's brother because IH has returned and confiscated Rp1.3 billion, which is a payment made by RK's brother to IH for the purchase of the vehicle," said Budi.

"Where from brother IH's statement that the purchase of the vehicle was only made partially," he continued.

Meanwhile, Ilham Habibie said that the return of the Mercedes Benz 280 SL collection of his father was carried out by the KPK this week. He did not explain the mechanism but the payment for the restoration of the car will be his business with Ridwan Kamil.

The car is in the workshop because it is being repaired. Color replacement is also made from silver to metallic blue even though Ridwan Kamil has not paid the car.

"That will be between me and the workshop and me and Mr. RK. So no longer with the KPK," he said after fulfilling the investigator's summons to sign the report on the return of the car.

Previously reported, the KPK has named five suspects in connection with allegations of corruption in the procurement of advertisements at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk or Bank BJB (BJBR).

They are former President Director of Bank BJB Yuddy Renaldi; Head of Bank BJB Corporate Secretary Division Widi Hartoto; Agency Controller Antedja Muliatama and Cakrawala Kreasi Mandiri Kin Asikin Dulmanan; Agency Controller BSC Advertising and PT Wahana Semesta Bandung Ekspres (WSBE) Suhendrik; and Controller of PT Cipta Karya Sukses Bersama (CKSB) and PT Cipta Karya Mandiri Bersama (CKMB) Raden Sophan Jaya Kusuma.

This case investigation warrant (sprindik) was issued on February 27, 2025. The actions of the five suspects are suspected of having caused the state to lose up to Rp22 billion.

Currently, the detention has not been carried out on five suspects. However, they have been prevented from traveling abroad for six months and can be extended according to the needs of the investigation.
