Spain Combs Companies In Its Country To Look For Money At Israel's Illegal Settlements In Palestine

JAKARTA - The Spanish government issued a decree or official order banning companies benefiting from Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, promoting goods and services in the country.

Citing AFP, Spain's left-wing government will begin its investigation into the companies in question starting today, Tuesday, September 30.

This provision follows steps that include an arms embargo against Israel for the sake of stopping what Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez calls "genocide in Gaza."

Earlier, Spanish Consumer Affairs Minister Pablo Bustanduy said his office would use "all necessary resources" to ensure no company operating in Spain seeks to benefit from Israeli occupation of Palestine.

"No company is allowed to balance its finances tarnished by the blood of the Palestinian people," Pablo said in the statement in July 2025.

The United Nations (UN) on Friday last week released the latest data on companies operating in Israeli illegal settlements in Palestine, which lists 158 companies from 11 countries.

One of the Spanish companies on the list is ACS. The construction company requested to be removed on the list on the grounds that it had sold its subsidiary, SEMI, which operates in Israel in 2021.

"ACS is not carrying out any activities in Israel or in Israeli settlements," Real Madrid President Florentino Perez said in a statement.
