PGN Is Active In Empowering Community Economy And Environmental Preservation

JAKARTA - As Pertamina's Gas Subholding, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) continues to run the natural gas business responsibly by ensuring the implementation of good corporate governance. This commitment is not only to support the company's operations, but also provides tangible benefits for the community and the environment.

PGN's success is not only measurable in terms of business, but also from how the existence of PGN is able to build harmonious relationships with the surrounding environment," said PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman, in his statement, Tuesday, September 30.

PGN believes that the management of companies and sustainability programs must go hand in hand. Through various social and environmental programs, PGN seeks to have a direct positive impact. As done through the CSR program, PGN held the 2025 Suadesi Festival at the Gasblock PGN Karangrejo, Borobudur, Magelang which has brought blessings to residents around the Karangrejo Balkondes. This festival boosted local economic empowerment by involving 40 local MSMEs and encouraged the growth of residents' culinary and homestay sector businesses in the Borobudur area.

In the form of another sustainability program, PGN supports food security as well as environmental sustainability on the north coast of Central Java through the Padi Biosalin planting program. This initiative is in collaboration with BRIN, the Semarang and Jepara Regional Governments, PGN helps farmers utilize land with high salt levels, so as to increase the productivity of coastal farmers as well as promote the welfare of the community.

In addition, PGN supports the welfare of rubber farmers in Pagar Dewa Village, South Sumatra. Through the Sister Dewa program, PGN together with farmers develop organic fertilizers and become an affordable solution for farmers who experience fertilizer availability problems. Community empowerment in Dewa Pagar Dewa is equipped with various activities including the establishment of cooperatives, agroforestry programs, waste banks, and other programs to help increase productivity and sustainability of farmers' income.

PGN's sustainability activities that are carried out in the midst of society must be able to provide tangible benefits. In addition to encouraging the economic independence of local residents, PGN also invites people to care about environmental sustainability, such as reducing plastic waste. PGN also synergizes with KLH in the program to disrupt the solidity of the Ciliwung River and Coastal Clean Up ecosystems or coastal clean action in commemoration of World Environment Day," explained Fajriyah.

Fajriyah revealed that social and sustainability programs were also implemented by PGN Subsidiaries and Affiliates. PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) is actively running the CSR program with many superior programs such as Perkasa Bumiku from Pertamina Gas Operation West Java Area (OWJA), Perempuan Lubuk Karet: Upscale Product Nanas from Operation Central Sumatra Area (OCSA), as well as Pusaka Tirta from Operation South Sumatra Area (OSSA). PT Nusantara Regas also actively assists the residents' economy through the Muka Bule program: Muara Angke Budidaya Lele.

Then in the environmental sector, PGN Saka succeeded in helping the community in restoring mangrove ecosystems on various coasts of Gresik Regency. Some of them even become mangrove ecotourism that adds to the source of people's income.
