Putin: Our Fighters Continue To Fight Fairly In Ukraine

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russian forces won the "fair battle" in Ukraine.

"Our fighters and commanders continue to attack, and across the country, throughout Russia, are launching this fair battle and working hard," Putin said in a video published on the Kremlin website.

"Together we maintain our love for the country and the unity of our historical destiny, we fight and we win," he continued.

Russia launched a massive invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, calling it a "special military operation" to demilitate and de-Nazi of neighboring countries. Kyiv and his allies said the invasion was an unwarranted imperialist attempt to seize territory.

This war has not been seen to end even though US President Donald Trump has made diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, including a separate summit with Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and other European leaders.

Russia controls nearly 114,500 square km (44,600 square miles), or 19%, Ukrainian territory, including Crimea, and much of the country's eastern and southeastern regions, according to an open source battlefield map.

Trump, reversed his previous stance, saying Ukraine had a chance to regain territory.

Washington said it was considering Kyiv's request to acquire the Tomahawk cruise missile for a deep attack into Russia.
